My partner and I are a lazy couple who can only manage short trips. Due to our limited stamina, we can only explore neighborhoods for a short while before becoming exhausted. However, we have a long list of places we want to visit. We recently took an AirAsia flight and were surprised to find it crowded. It seems that many people are eager to travel again.
On our first day, we stayed at the Royal Orchid Sheraton. The view from our room was breathtaking, although the room itself was a bit small for our liking. Nevertheless, since it was only for one night, it wasn’t too inconvenient. The water quality in the bathroom was not great, as we noticed some brownish water when we first turned it on. It might have been due to the room not being used for a while. We recommend bringing a filter for anyone who is sensitive to water quality.
We decided to visit the Icon Siam even though it wasn’t part of our original plan. As soon as we disembarked from the boat, we were amazed by the crowd gathered there. After a few minutes, we were overwhelmed and decided to purchase the famous durian fruit, Khan Yao, at a nearby shop. I wanted to change my husband’s negative perception of durian by introducing him to a different variety. The owner was kind enough to give us an extra one after making us wait for a while. The durian was incredibly creamy and had a delightful aroma. Both my husband and I enjoyed it, and we highly recommend trying durian to those who are traveling in Thailand.
We also had delicious Tomyum noodles that made us feel like we had truly arrived in Thailand. The taste was not overwhelming, and it had just the right amount of spiciness.
After returning to our accommodation for a quick rest, we felt that going to bed at 8:30 pm would be too early. So, we searched for a jazz bar using Google Maps and found FooJohn Jazz Club, which was just a 10-minute walk away. Despite the dark alleyways, we managed to arrive there safely. If you are staying close to this area, we highly recommend visiting this gem of a jazz bar. Despite its small stage, the musicians were incredibly talented and created a cozy atmosphere.
On our way back, we leisurely strolled through the dimly lit alleys, enjoying the music-filled ambiance and the tranquil streets dotted with lazy cats. The flickering lights of the street vendors near our accommodation reminded us that we were truly on a journey. And thus, we happily concluded our first day of exploration.

Additionally, if you have some energy left, you could embark on a short river tour along the Chao Phraya River. The river tour provides a unique perspective of the city and allows you to appreciate its beauty from a different angle.
