Thank you to everyone who read my previous reviews about Pattaya. Now, I’d like to share my Bangkok journey. My reviews are structured based on the places I visited, not necessarily in chronological order.
After a brief but intense 2-night stay in Pattaya, I headed to Bangkok in the late evening. Luckily, the trip took less than two hours. I had heard that if you set out in the late afternoon, it might take up to 3 hours. Our 3.5-day Bangkok itinerary began with checking into the ‘Anantara Riverside Bangkok’, a place I revisited after six years.
Anantara Riverside Bangkok (Deluxe junior suite)
Many people love this hotel. I’ve had my eyes on it since it was under the Marriott brand. The property boasts an impressive pool and garden. The suite was spacious, with wooden floors, a separated shower and toilet, and other amenities. The room also had a welcome phone previously, but now it seems they’ve switched to an app, which unfortunately didn’t work for us.
The breakfast at the hotel was always delightful. The pool is the hotel’s crowning glory. There’s also a shuttle boat service that runs hourly, which is a fun way to travel.
Despite its somewhat inconvenient location, the ambiance, friendly staff, delicious breakfast, and the pool made the stay worthwhile. However, there seemed to be some service hiccups this time compared to previous experiences.
Anantara Manora Dinner Cruise
Another highlight of any Bangkok trip is the river cruise. This time, I chose the ‘Anantara Manora Dinner Cruise’. The cruise offers a set menu of Thai dishes, enjoyed against the backdrop of the Chao Phraya River’s nighttime view. The food was of a fine dining standard and was mostly delicious. The cruise had a romantic and serene ambiance, making it ideal for those who want a quiet and luxurious experience.
After the cruise, I enjoyed some wine at the Longtail Bar, which is located near the hotel’s dock. It operates from 4 PM to midnight, and there’s a live performance until about 11:30 PM.
Overall, while I had planned a leisurely trip with plenty of pool time, I felt I couldn’t enjoy the hotel as much as I wanted. I hope to return and experience everything to the fullest next time.
