Hello!
I recently returned from my second trip to Thailand after a 10-year gap, thanks to the excellent guidance from Taecho. As a novice traveler to Thailand and a first-time visitor to a resort in Southeast Asia with my children, I had many concerns. However, I had such a fantastic and enjoyable time that I wanted to go back immediately upon returning home.
Like many other travelers, I researched numerous external dining options before the trip. However, since I had children with me and dining out for every meal can be challenging, we opted for the Marriott Dining Infra, which includes breakfast. Although it was expensive, I highly recommend it.
Now, let me describe the breakfast buffet based on my personal experience. The seating area in the breakfast restaurant, called “Amber Kitchen,” was a bit crowded with tables placed relatively close together. If you prefer a less crowded environment, I suggest sitting outdoors if the weather allows.
In terms of beverages, they had a dedicated corner where you could choose your drink. You could either use the coffee machine to make your own coffee or request it from the staff. They offered various juices like fresh pineapple, carrot, milk, watermelon, banana or mango smoothies, Thai tea, and other options like orange, apple, or guava juice. However, please note that the availability of watermelon juice and mango smoothies fluctuated during my stay.
The bread corner is where you can find a variety of bread, baguettes, rolls, croissants, muffins, and dessert cakes. I’m not a big bread eater, but I found them delicious. I particularly enjoyed spreading butter on baguettes and adding parma ham, almost like eating a bruschetta.
Next to the bread corner, there was an ice cream corner that my children loved, although I don’t have any photos of it.
Following that, there was a section for local dishes, but unfortunately, I don’t have any pictures of it. They served fried rice, stir-fried noodles (Pad See Ew, Pad Thai, etc.), stir-fried meats (pork and chicken), and stir-fried vegetables. The stir-fried vegetables were made with cabbage and tasted great when eaten with sticky rice.
There was also a noodle station where you could choose different types of soup and meat toppings. The noodles were so delicious that I couldn’t resist having a bowl each time.
There was a corner with dumplings, grilled skewers (such as satay, sticky rice, and corn), sticky rice, and congee. I enjoyed combining the sticky rice with the deliciously sweet and savory grilled skewers, as well as the stir-fried vegetables.
The next corner offered sausages, bacon, potatoes, roasted vegetables, and an egg station.
There was also a corner for rice noodles, where you could have red curry, green curry, a clear pork soup with rice, and Indian-style curry. Surprisingly, the green curry was the highlight for me, even more addictive than other Southeast Asian cuisine. The pork soup reminded me of gomtang, a Korean soup, and was perfect for hangovers.
Lastly, they had a salad, fruit, cheese, and ham corner. Although the variety of food wasn’t extensive, everything was delicious. The staff were friendly, quick to clear empty plates, and provided excellent service. However, during the Thai holiday weekend, there seemed to be a shortage of staff, resulting in slightly slower service.
Thank you for reading my review. Writing this review made me realize it wasn’t an easy task. I have so much respect for other members who write in detail. Thank you.
Based on your stay at the Marriott resort in Thailand, there are several nearby tourist attractions and activities that I highly recommend.
Firstly, since you mentioned traveling with children, a visit to the local water parks would be a great option. There are a few renowned water parks in the area, such as Cartoon Network Amazone Waterpark and Ramayana Water Park. These parks offer a wide range of water slides, swimming pools, and other fun-filled activities that are perfect for families.
Additionally, if you’re interested in exploring Thai culture and history, a trip to the nearby Sanctuary of Truth should not be missed. This awe-inspiring wooden temple is a true masterpiece and showcases intricate carvings and architectural details. It provides a unique insight into Thailand’s spiritual traditions and is a must-see attraction.
For nature enthusiasts, a visit to the Nong Nooch Tropical Botanical Garden is highly recommended. This beautifully landscaped garden offers a vast array of exotic plants, including orchids, palms, and cacti. You can also enjoy cultural shows, elephant rides, and explore the different themed gardens within the park.
If you’re seeking an adventure, a day trip to Koh Larn, a nearby island, is a fantastic option. Known for its stunning beaches and crystal-clear waters, this island offers various water activities such as snorkeling, scuba diving, and banana boat rides. Relaxing on the picturesque beaches and indulging in fresh seafood are also popular activities on Koh Larn.
Furthermore, Pattaya Floating Market is another unique attraction worth visiting. Here, you can immerse yourself in the local culture while exploring the numerous wooden market stalls set upon a vast network of canals. You can shop for souvenirs, try local delicacies, and even enjoy traditional Thai performances.
Lastly, for those seeking a vibrant nightlife scene, Walking Street in Pattaya is the place to be. With its numerous bars, nightclubs, and entertainment venues, this lively street comes to life after sunset. It offers a diverse range of dining options, live music, and shows, ensuring a memorable evening for party-goers.
Overall, the Marriott resort provides convenient access to a variety of tourist attractions and activities in the area. Whether you’re interested in family-friendly attractions, cultural experiences, or outdoor adventures, there is something to cater to every traveler’s preferences.
