We decided to visit Pattaya as our family loves relaxing vacations and Phuket did not have any direct flights available for our travel dates. For our stay, we booked 3 nights each at InterContinental and Centara based on recommendations. Initially, we booked only Centara but when we reached out for assistance, they kindly helped us switch to InterContinental for free and recommended it as well.
At InterContinental, the experience was great from the start. We enjoyed the use of the Club Lounge, the room condition (despite the mention of it being old, it was very clean and private), and the lovely afternoon tea served on a beautiful three-tier tray, similar to what we have in Korea. The evening cocktails were also satisfying with a well-prepared set menu. The Club Room was especially impressive as they even provided turn-down service twice a day.
Getting around with buggy carts was convenient, and most importantly, the hotel staff had a warm and friendly demeanor. In comparison to Centara, InterContinental had a more luxurious concept. If we visit again, my husband and I would definitely want to stay at InterContinental for a whole week. The pool experience was also great as there were hardly any people, it felt like having the entire pool to ourselves.
On the other hand, Centara appeared more worn out compared to InterContinental, and it was crowded, which gave us a less favorable first impression (probably because InterContinental was so good). However, when they combined the two double beds, the size of the bed became very spacious and we had a comfortable sleep. Centara definitely stood out with its fantastic water park, and our son enjoyed spending 4 hours every day playing in the water. However, there were a lot of people from the Middle East at the resort, and the food options leaned towards Chinese and Indian cuisine, which created a slightly crowded and noisy atmosphere during breakfast. We even had some pigeons flying around and disturbing our meal, which made us switch to having breakfast indoors. Nevertheless, we had a truly enjoyable time at Centara.
Overall, our experience in Pattaya was delightful.
For travelers staying at the InterContinental in Pattaya, there are several nearby tourist attractions and activities that I would recommend. One popular option is to explore the famous Pattaya Floating Market. Here, you can immerse yourself in Thai culture, browse through various stalls selling traditional handicrafts, and sample local street food. Another must-visit attraction is the Sanctuary of Truth, a magnificent wooden temple that showcases intricate carvings and represents the philosophy behind ancient Eastern religions.
If you prefer to enjoy Pattaya’s beautiful coastline, a trip to Coral Island is a great choice. You can take a boat ride to this picturesque island and spend the day swimming, snorkeling, or simply relaxing on the sandy beaches. For those seeking a bit of adrenaline, a visit to the Cartoon Network Amazone Waterpark would be a fantastic option. This water park offers a wide range of thrilling water slides, wave pools, and interactive attractions that will keep both kids and adults entertained.
If you’re interested in a more cultural experience, a visit to the Nong Nooch Tropical Botanical Garden is highly recommended. This stunning garden showcases beautifully landscaped grounds, including themed gardens, orchid displays, and even live cultural performances. Additionally, the Pattaya Elephant Village is a great place to learn more about these magnificent creatures and experience an elephant ride or watch a captivating elephant show.
For guests staying at the Centara in Pattaya, there are also some notable attractions in close proximity. If you haven’t already visited the Pattaya Floating Market, it is definitely worth checking out. The vibrant atmosphere and array of cultural offerings make it an excellent place to explore. Another nearby attraction is the Art in Paradise Museum, where you can wander through interactive 3D art installations and become part of the artwork itself.
If you’re looking for a unique experience, consider a visit to the Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum. This museum is home to oddities and curiosities from around the world, offering a mix of entertainment and education. Additionally, families with children may enjoy a trip to the Teddy Bear Museum, which showcases an extensive collection of teddy bears in various settings, including historical scenes and famous landmarks.
For nature enthusiasts, a visit to the Khao Chi Chan Buddha Mountain is highly recommended. This mountain features a giant image of Buddha carved into the cliff face and offers a serene and peaceful environment for meditation or simply enjoying the natural surroundings. Lastly, you can’t miss the vibrant nightlife of Walking Street in Pattaya. Here, you will find an array of restaurants, bars, and nightclubs, offering a lively atmosphere and a chance to experience Pattaya’s bustling nightlife.
Overall, whether you’re staying at the InterContinental or Centara in Pattaya, there are plenty of attractions and activities to keep you entertained and make your stay enjoyable. Pattaya offers a diverse range of experiences, from cultural landmarks to thrilling water parks, ensuring that there is something for every traveler to enjoy.
