I have been staying at the Athens Luxury Collection for the past two days, thanks to a great deal I found at the beginning of my trip. Although I booked the basic room, it was clean and tidy, albeit a bit small. The best part was the early check-in. We arrived at the hotel around 12:30 pm, and they promptly accommodated us. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming.
The hotel has a vintage charm, which is well-maintained and gives it a unique and hip atmosphere. Overall, it has the feel of a well-managed antique hotel. Until now, I’ve simply thought of it as a good 5-star hotel, with friendly staff and delicious breakfast. It’s clear that money was well spent to ensure a comfortable experience.
However, a problem arose during the early hours of the morning. Since yesterday morning, I had been feeling uncomfortable in my stomach. After having lunch, I experienced stomachache, followed by gastrointestinal distress, severe muscle cramps, and even temporary paralysis in my limbs due to the intensity of the cramps. I’ve never experienced such symptoms before, so my girlfriend was quite panicked. She called the front desk, crying and asking for assistance, while I was unable to move due to the chills and muscle cramps, and found solace by immersing myself in the bathtub.
Shortly after, a female hotel staff member came to my room, assessing my condition and suggesting whether I wanted to go to the hospital or if she should call a doctor. I remembered reading in a review that there used to be a Korean employee at the hotel. However, she had recently resigned. Nevertheless, the staff member went ahead and made arrangements for me to speak with a Korean interpreter at the hospital. She also arranged for transportation to the hospital using the hotel’s vehicle. I was deeply grateful for her help. When asked if I had travel insurance, she even informed me that the necessary documents could be obtained from the hospital.
After going to the hospital and receiving injections and medication, I started to feel better. Upon returning from the hospital in the early hours of the morning, the hotel lobby staff asked if I was okay. Later, when I came down to the breakfast area with the intention of having some porridge, they inquired about my well-being again. Their care and concern truly made this hotel even more exceptional. If I ever visit Bangkok again in the future, I will definitely choose to stay at this hotel.
As if it were their own hotel, the staff even brought me a bouquet of flowers, knowing that I wasn’t feeling well. It was incredibly touching. Once again, I was deeply moved by their gestures of kindness.
