I’m currently enjoying my meal at Sunwing Kamala breakfast restaurant. Bangkok is our layover destination as we will be heading to Phuket the next morning. We arrived in Bangkok at around 11 am local time, via Asiana 380. We used the fast track service, which took less than a minute to complete. However, we had to wait for our luggage for about 20 minutes. Since we were planning to move to Phuket the next morning, we booked a round-trip transfer with The Cottages Kamala Suanfahm and took a taxi. The shuttle service took about 20 minutes for a round trip, and the waiting time seemed to vary for different passengers. For us, it was unfortunate that we had to wait for about 20 minutes. Some passengers who came later didn’t have to wait more than 5 minutes. Therefore, it might be better to take a taxi for transportation. Upon arrival at the hotel, it seemed a bit dimly lit, but that could be due to the late-night hour. Our room on the 5th floor had a nice surprise – two elephant figures, which made us feel like we were truly in Thailand. The room itself was in good condition as we only needed it for sleeping. There was no unpleasant smell, but the bedsheets felt a bit damp, and the bed made creaking noises when we turned over. Oh, and there were no toothbrushes provided, but it didn’t matter as we brought our own. The breakfast was satisfying, filling us enough to prevent hunger. It wasn’t bad at all. When we arrived, it was raining, and the thunder continued throughout the night, but when we woke up in Phuket, the sky was unexpectedly clear. At the airport, the fare quoted for a taxi to Sunwing Kamala was 750 KRW. We checked Bolt, and it showed a fare of 425 KRW, but we couldn’t find a taxi for less than 500 KRW. However, a Bolt driver messaged us saying 500 KRW was acceptable. So, my son, who was feeling hot, called for a taxi, and it arrived quickly. However, the car looked quite old. Although I felt annoyed for a moment, seeing my son’s face made me decide to just get in. The car journey was uncomfortably hot despite the air conditioning being on full blast. The smell reminded me of traveling on an old long-distance bus when I was young. It was slightly reminiscent of that experience. After about 25 minutes, the temperature in the car cooled down a bit. Nonetheless, the beautiful scenery of Kamala managed to calm my frustration. I took a picture while having breakfast, and it feels peaceful here. We will spend a leisurely 6 nights at Sunwing Kamala, and I’ll share more about it later.
